NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA) has become the central supplier of accelerated computing infrastructure for artificial intelligence. Its opportunity is enormous, but the scale of current expectations, customer concentration, supply commitments, export controls, and rapid product transitions make disciplined analysis essential.

NVIDIA’s moat is strong, but it must be renewed through execution.

Data Center represented roughly 93% of quarterly revenue. Blackwell Ultra drove the latest expansion, while Vera Rubin began production shipments in the following quarter. This concentration creates exceptional operating leverage when demand is strong, but also increases exposure to AI infrastructure cycles.
Why growth has been so powerful
Full-stack economics
NVIDIA captures value across compute, high-speed interconnects, networking, systems, and software. Improving the whole system can matter more than improving a single chip, particularly when training and inference clusters contain thousands of accelerators.
Developer and ecosystem advantages
A large installed base encourages developers to optimize software for NVIDIA, which makes the platform more useful to customers and attracts more deployments. Cloud availability, enterprise tools, libraries, and support reinforce this loop.
Demand across several customer groups
Hyperscalers remain crucial, but AI-native companies, enterprises, sovereign customers, and specialized AI clouds are also purchasing infrastructure. Broader demand can reduce reliance on one , thoughlessthough direct-customer concentration remains high.
Cash flow—and the important adjustments
NVIDIA generated $74.4 billion of operating cash flow in the first half of fiscal 2027. After $4.4 billion of purchases related to property, equipment, and intangible assets, a simple free-cash-flow estimate is approximately $70.0 billion.
Investors should inspect the details. Accounts receivable increased by $24.6 billion in the six-month cash-flow statement, partly because of extended payment terms on large multi-quarter agreements. The new balance-sheet commitments
NVIDIA reported $279 billion of supply and capacity commitments, up from $119 billion one quarter earlier, primarily for memory and manufacturing capacity. It has also entered cloud-capacity agreements and arrangements involving land, power, and data-center infrastructure.
These commitments can secure scarce inputs and help customers deploy systems faster. They also shift part of the investment case: investors must assess not only chip demand, but counterparty quality, deployment timing, capacity utilization, and the risk that forecast demand changes before commitments expire.
Risks investors should monitor
- Customer concentration: five direct customers each represented at least 10% of receivables at quarter-end.
- China and export controls: NVIDIA said it was effectively foreclosed from China’s data-center compute market under the current environment.
- Competition: AMD, custom hyperscaler chips, specialized accelerators, and alternative software stacks may pressure share or pricing.
- Architecture transitions: rapid Blackwell-to-Rubin ramps can create supply, yield, inventory, and execution problems.
- AI customer economics: demand ultimately depends on customers earning adequate returns from deployed compute.
- Commitment risk: supply purchases, leases, cloud agreements, and guarantees create obligations if demand disappoints.
- Valuation: even exceptional growth may be insufficient if the share price already discounts years of flawless execution.
A practical valuation framework
A single earnings multiple is not enough for a company growing this quickly. Build scenarios for revenue growth, gross margin, operating expenses, working capital, and normalized capital needs.
